Playbooks: ready-made routines you can install
Playbooks are routines Autron has already written and scheduled. Where to find them in Routines, what installing one does, who gets its emails, and how auto-update keeps it current until you edit it.
TL;DR: A playbook is a routine Autron has already written and scheduled. Open Routines, choose the Playbook tab and click Install. It follows your Agent permissions, emails its report to your company by default, and keeps updating as Autron improves it until you edit its instructions, schedule or skills. The Monthly Business Review is installed for you.
A playbook is a routine Autron has already written: the instructions, the skills it uses and its schedule. Installing one creates that routine in your account, ready to run.
Find and install a playbook
- Open Routines in the sidebar and choose the Playbook tab. Old links to Playbooks open this tab.
- Browse All, or filter by Understand, Launch, Grow or Protect. The card at the top is chosen for your account: Goal Target Review if the ad engine runs your campaigns, the Day-0 Account Audit otherwise.
- Check Installs to. The routine is created for the workspace you have open; to install it for another, switch workspace first.
- Click Install. You see Installed — 1 routine created., and the card then reads Installed · View routine.
Cards marked In development cannot be installed yet.
What you get
The routine appears under Routines › Mine, switched on and on its schedule. Its report is emailed to everyone in your company at the time you install it; people who join later are not added. Change the recipients, channels or anything else on the routine's page, as with a routine you wrote.
A playbook with no schedule, such as the Day-0 Account Audit, runs only when you press Run now. A Run now run is never emailed or sent to any channel: open it from Run history on the routine's page.
A playbook routine follows your Agent permissions like any other routine — see what a routine may change. Most playbooks only read and report. Search-Term Harvester changes campaigns: on the campaigns the ad engine doesn't run, it adds proven search terms as exact-match keywords — in new exact-match campaigns or in existing ad groups — and adds negatives. Each kind of change follows your Agent permissions. On Pro, a change you have never set yourself is made, not proposed; on the Agent plan it is listed for you to apply by replying in the run's chat.
The first email a playbook routine sends opens with a short introduction: what the routine is, that it uses your Agent permissions, and a link to its settings to change it or turn it off.
The Monthly Business Review is installed for you
Each Amazon account connected on the Agent or Pro plan gets the Monthly Business Review automatically. Once a month, on the 2nd, it reviews the month before: the headline numbers, what moved and why, and a short list of recommendations. It emails everyone who was in your company when it was installed — people who join later are not added — and you can reply to the email to dig into any number.
Its owner, usually whoever connected the account, can pause it, change its recipients or delete it on the routine's page. Teammates see it under Routines › Team. See Emails and notifications for every email Autron sends.
Staying current
A playbook routine shows From the Autron Playbook on its page, with an Auto-update switch. While auto-update is on, the routine's instructions, schedule and skills follow Autron's latest version, so you get improvements without reinstalling.
Editing any of those three turns auto-update off, and your version stays as you wrote it. To go back to Autron's version, switch Auto-update on. While auto-update is on and Autron has improved the playbook since you installed it, the card offers Apply latest baseline….
