Using the agent

Manage Your Amazon Ads Campaigns with the Agent

Ask the Autron agent to list, create, update and archive Amazon Ads campaigns, ad groups, ads and targets: Sponsored Products, Sponsored Display, and Sponsored Brands video and collections, each change on an approval card unless you allow it.

TL;DR: Ask the agent to create Sponsored Products or Sponsored Display campaigns, change budgets and bids, add keywords, targets and negatives, or archive what you no longer want. For Sponsored Brands it creates video and collection campaigns. Every change shows the approval card first, unless you've set that change to Always allow in Agent permissions, and one card covers the whole batch.

The Autron agent works on your live Amazon Ads account. You can list what you have, create campaigns, change budgets and bids, add keyword or product targets, and retire what you no longer want, all by asking in plain English.

What you can manage

  • List campaigns, ad groups, ads, targets and portfolios.
  • Create Sponsored Products campaigns (auto, keyword, product or category) and Sponsored Display campaigns (product, category, or audiences of shoppers who viewed or bought a product). For Sponsored Brands the agent creates video campaigns (see Video ads and creatives) and collection campaigns, below.
  • Update a campaign's state, name, daily budget or portfolio.
  • Adjust placement multipliers; see Manage placement bid adjustments.
  • Add keyword, product or category targets, positive or negative, to existing ad groups, and add products to existing Sponsored Products or Sponsored Display ad groups, up to 100 per card.
  • Change target bids.
  • Archive campaigns or targets.

Listing what you already have

  • "Show me my active campaigns for my garlic press"
  • "Which ad groups are in my Spoons campaign?"
  • "What targets do I have on B07ABC1234?"
  • "List my portfolios"

Name a campaign ("the eco-friendly campaign") and the agent searches for it by name. When you name something, it looks at active ones; say "include paused" or "show archived" to widen it.

Creating campaigns

Autron's convention is one keyword or product per campaign, which keeps each target's performance, budget and comparison clean. The agent follows it unless you ask otherwise.

  • Auto campaign: Amazon picks the targeting. "Create an auto campaign for B07ABC1234"
  • Keyword campaign: one search term, exact match unless you ask for broad. "Create a keyword campaign for 'garlic press' on my garlic press"
  • Product campaign: one competitor ASIN. "Create a product-targeting campaign on B0COMPETITOR for my knee sleeves"
  • Category campaign: a browse category. "Create a category campaign for my garlic press in kitchen utensils"
  • Sponsored Display: "Remarket my knee sleeves to shoppers who viewed them in the last 30 days"
  • Sponsored Brands collection: several of your products in one ad under your brand. "Create a Sponsored Brands collection for my three garlic presses"

Without a bid from you, a Sponsored Products campaign opens at the bid Amazon suggests for that target, and at Autron's standard default only when Amazon has no suggestion. Without a budget, it uses Autron's standard default. The approval card shows both. New campaigns go into your Autron Strategic portfolio unless you name another. The engine doesn't optimise them, but they count as Autron-managed: on Pro their ad sales count toward Autron's share. See How the engine works alongside your campaigns. One card can create up to 20 campaigns, so "auto campaigns for all of these ASINs" is a single approval.

One campaign with several keywords? Say so: "one campaign for my garlic press that targets these three keywords". The agent creates it with the first keyword, then adds the rest to its ad group, which takes two approvals.

Sponsored Brands collections

A collection ad shows several of your products under your brand name. There are two kinds:

  • Manual (the usual one): you choose 3 to 10 products. Shoppers land on a page Amazon builds from those products, or on a page of your Brand Store. You can add a title of up to 32 characters. It targets either a keyword (your brand name, exact match, unless you give one) or the product pages of the products in it.
  • Automatic: Amazon picks the products from your brand's catalogue to suit each search, and you can leave products out. It targets keywords only. Amazon refuses it when your brand has too few products, and the agent offers a manual collection instead.

Your brand logo can go on either; neither takes a custom image or video. Ask for both keyword and product targeting and you get two campaigns, with an approval each. Like the others, collections start live in Autron Strategic, on the approval card's budget and bid.

Updating existing campaigns

  • "Pause my Spoons campaign"
  • "Set the daily budget on my eco-friendly campaign to $25"
  • "Move my garlic press campaign into the Kitchen portfolio"
  • "Rename 'SP B07… | broad' to 'SP Garlic Press | broad'"

One card covers up to 50 campaigns. On a product the ad engine runs, a pause made through the agent is kept: the campaign stays paused until you hand it back or enable it through the agent. A budget, name or portfolio change is an exception until a date, seven days out. See Exceptions.

Adding targets

Most often for negatives, but positives work too:

  • "Add 'cheap' as a negative exact keyword to my eco-friendly campaign"
  • "Exclude these competitor ASINs as negatives on my garlic press campaign"
  • "Add three more keyword variants to that ad group with a $0.50 bid"

Up to 100 targets per card. Negatives take no bid; positives do.

Changing target bids

Ask "what's my bid on X?" and the agent reads the target's own bid, which is what Amazon uses in the auction.

  • "Lower the bid on 'kitchen gadget' to $0.40"
  • "Bump every target on my garlic press up by 10 cents"

Up to 1,000 bid changes per card.

Archiving

"Archive my Spoons campaign" or "Archive these targets: …", up to 100 per card.

How approvals work

Before any change you haven't set to Always allow, the agent shows the approval card with the full list: Allow once, Always allow, Block once or Always block. One answer covers the whole batch. Block it and nothing changes. If Amazon refuses part of it afterwards, the agent tells you in plain English what was blocked, such as a duplicate campaign name or a bid below Amazon's minimum, and the Action log keeps Amazon's full response. See Confirmations and safety.
