Manage Placement Bid Adjustments

Use the Autron AI Agent to read and set Sponsored Products placement bid adjustments — Top of Search, Rest of Search, Product Pages and Amazon Business — through conversation.

TL;DR: Ask the agent to boost, clear or check the placement adjustments on your Sponsored Products campaigns: Top of Search, Rest of Search, Product Pages and Amazon Business. Amazon only lets a Sponsored Products adjustment raise a bid, from 0% to +900%. The agent shows the change on an approval card first, for up to 50 campaigns at a time.

Amazon lets you raise your bid depending on where the ad shows up: Top of Search, Rest of Search, Product Pages, and for shoppers signed in to Amazon Business. The Autron AI Agent can read and change these placement adjustments on any of your Sponsored Products campaigns.

What are placement adjustments?

A placement adjustment is a percentage boost on your bid for one placement:

  • Top of Search — the sponsored rows above the organic results on a search results page. Highest visibility, usually the highest click-through rate.
  • Rest of Search — the other sponsored slots in search results, mid-page and lower.
  • Product Pages — sponsored slots on product detail pages.
  • Amazon Business — applies when the shopper is signed in to an Amazon Business account.

A boost of +50% means you bid up to half as much again for that placement. A placement with no adjustment uses your base bid.

Examples

Set or change adjustments

  • "Boost Top of Search by 50% on my garlic press campaign"
  • "Set Top of Search to +75% and Rest of Search to +20% on my eco-friendly campaign"
  • "Add a +30% Amazon Business adjustment to my B2B campaign"

Check what's there

  • "What placement adjustments are on my garlic press campaign?"
  • "Show me Top of Search boosts across all my campaigns"
  • "Which placement is converting best on my Spoons campaign?"

Clear adjustments

  • "Remove the Top of Search adjustment on my Spoons campaign" — clears one placement
  • "Clear all placement adjustments on my garlic press campaign" — clears all of them

How changes are applied

Like any change to your account, a placement change shows on an approval card first, with the new percentages and the campaigns affected. Press Allow once to apply it. One card covers up to 50 campaigns. See Is the agent safe?

On a product the ad engine runs, an adjustment you set through the agent is an exception until a date, seven days out. Ask the agent to keep it if it should stick. See Exceptions.

The agent can tell you a campaign's bidding strategy, such as dynamic bids down only, but cannot change it.

Tips

  • Top of Search is usually where to start. If a campaign converts well and you want more volume, a +25–50% Top of Search boost is a common first move.
  • Watch your spend. +900% is allowed, but it means up to ten times your bid on that placement. Check your daily budget can absorb it.
  • Take boosts off what underperforms. If a placement keeps losing money, remove its boost rather than turning the campaign off.
  • Review now and then. Ask "what placement adjustments do I have?" once a quarter to make sure none has outlived its purpose.
