### ACoS tells you about the ads. TACoS tells you about the business.

It is easy to run a tidy ACoS and still watch profit erode, because ACoS only sees ad-attributed sales. TACoS divides ad spend by all your sales, so it catches the case every operator dreads: paying for clicks on products that were already going to sell organically. Watch TACoS month over month — falling while sales hold is the signal that your rank is compounding.

Pair this with the [break-even ACoS calculator](https://autron.ai/tools/acos-calculator) to set a per-sale ceiling, then check your numbers against your category with the [benchmark comparison](https://autron.ai/tools/amazon-ppc-benchmarks).

FAQ

### Common questions

### What is TACoS and why does it matter?

TACoS (total advertising cost of sales) is ad spend divided by total sales, not just ad-attributed sales. It shows how much of your whole business depends on ads. A falling TACoS while sales hold or grow means your organic rank is doing more of the work — usually the healthiest signal in an Amazon account.

### What is the difference between ACoS and TACoS?

ACoS is ad spend divided by ad-attributed sales — it measures the ads in isolation. TACoS is ad spend divided by total sales (ads plus organic). ACoS can look fine while TACoS quietly climbs, which usually means you are buying sales that would have happened organically.

### What is a good TACoS on Amazon?

For established products many sellers target a TACoS in the 8 to 15% range, but it depends on margin, life-cycle stage and category. A new launch will run a high TACoS on purpose to build rank; a mature product should trend lower over time.

### How is net profit calculated here?

Net profit is revenue minus product cost (as a percent of revenue), minus Amazon fees (referral, FBA and storage as a percent of revenue), minus total ad spend. It is a quick, directional read, not a substitute for your full P&L.
