# Understanding How Autron Creates and Manages Campaigns

Behind the scenes of how Autron builds, experiments with, and scales your Amazon ads.

**TL;DR:** The engine builds one small campaign per keyword or target in an Autron AI portfolio, then tunes bids through the day against your ACoS or TACoS target, adds targets and negatives from your search terms, and cuts bids on what doesn't earn. To change something it manages and have it stick, make the change through the agent.

## Autron’s Campaign Philosophy

When you turn on Autron, it doesn’t just launch a few broad campaigns—it builds a highly structured, per-keyword system designed for rapid learning and long-term efficiency.

- One exact-match campaign per keyword, plus a broad-match one for its best-converting multi-word keywords.
- One automatic-targeting campaign per product, so Amazon's own matching keeps surfacing new search terms for the engine to promote.
- Separate campaigns for branded, competitor, generic and ASIN targets.
- Dedicated grouping means Autron can test bids faster, optimize precisely, and avoid “cross-pollination” between keywords.

## How Campaigns Are Created

Once you set your goals (maximize sales or profit, with a fixed ACoS/TACoS cap), here’s what happens:

1. **Account & Subscription Check**
Autron first confirms you have an active Amazon portfolio and Pro subscription, and that your account data is fresh. No surprises, no duplicate campaigns.
2. **Data Gathering**
It pulls in everything from recent keyword performance to video assets you’ve uploaded and weekly placement reports. This information drives every decision.
3. **Mass Campaign Generation**
Instead of juggling dozens of keywords in one bucket, Autron spins up hundreds or even thousands of micro-campaigns. Each one tests a single keyword or target audience.
4. **Continuous Learning**
As performance data pours in—impressions, clicks, sales, cost, ACoS—Autron automatically:
    - Raises bids on high-performers
    - Scales back or pauses underperformers
    - Injects new targets and negative keywords to keep waste low
5. **Video & Creative Management**
If you’ve uploaded video assets, Autron finds eligible placements, formats requests, and uploads them—all without you having to manually craft anything behind the scenes.

## Understanding Budgets in Autron

Traditional daily campaign budgets don’t apply here. Instead:

- Every campaign gets a generous “test cap” (e.g. $100) so you never miss a learning opportunity.
- Actual spend stays well below cap—Autron prioritizes hitting your ACoS/TACoS targets, not spending a fixed amount.
- To truly limit total spend, set an account-wide Daily Budget Cap in Amazon Advertising.

## How Autron Decides to Raise or Lower a Bid

The engine doesn't nudge your bids up or down by a fixed step. Once a day it works out a fresh bid for every keyword and target from the last 90 days. A bid that moved is the new figure replacing the old one.

- **Your goal sets what a sale may cost.** From the product's price and its goal, the engine works out the most it can spend in ads on one sale and still hit the target.
- **Conversion rate turns that into a bid.** A keyword that turns clicks into orders well can afford a higher bid at the same target, so its bid goes up. One that converts poorly gets a lower bid.
- **Clicks with no sales pull a bid down.** After a few clicks without an order, every further click lowers what the engine expects that keyword to convert. Its bid falls with each one, down to a floor.
- **New keywords borrow until they have data.** A keyword with only a handful of clicks bids on the product's average conversion rate, or the account's. It moves to its own as its clicks build up.
- **Limits on both sides.** A bid never goes above a ceiling tied to the product's price and to what your selling keywords typically bid. It never goes below a small floor.
- **Time of day.** The daily bid is then scaled for the time of day, at eight set hours: as low as half overnight, full strength through the day.
- **Stock.** When a product's FBA stock runs out or nearly does, its bids drop to a token amount. They come back at the next daily run once it is restocked.

To hold a bid where you want it, such as a ceiling through a sale event, ask the agent. See [Exceptions](https://autron.ai/help/exceptions).

## New products and launches

A new keyword opens at the bid your account usually pays, and the engine prices it from the product's conversion rate once clicks arrive. Until then it stays within the ceiling tied to the product's price, which keeps a launch from overspending but can leave a brand-new product short of impressions. To push a launch harder, set its bids through the agent for a dated window; the engine steps aside while they run and takes over again when they end. See [Launching a new product with Autron](https://autron.ai/help/launching-a-new-product).

The engine builds the product's auto campaign when the product is switched on, as long as no auto campaign for it already runs in either Autron portfolio and the name isn't held by one archived in the last few months. A campaign the agent created can be moved into Autron AI to become the product's auto; see [Already running Amazon Ads?](https://autron.ai/help/transition-from-existing-campaigns).

## Advanced Bid Adjustments

Autron fine-tunes bids throughout the day based on:

- Time-of-day curves (higher bids when your shoppers are most active)
- Historical “optimal” bid benchmarks
- Placement efficiency (e.g. Top-of-Search vs. Detail-Page)

Time-of-day adjustments run eight times a day, at set hours in your marketplace's local time. The wider bid optimisation runs at least once a day, and placement adjustments twice a week.

## Smart Negative-Keyword Management

To prevent wasted clicks, Autron:

- Identifies conflicting negatives vs. your positive keywords
- Archives stale negatives and creates new ones based on your latest search-term reports
- Combines data feeds with live Amazon API data to keep negatives razor-sharp

## Why Branded Keywords Matter

Autron includes your own brand name and ASINs to:

- Defend against competitors
- Strengthen overall campaign learning
- Support expansion into generic or cross-ASIN targets

See [Why Autron targets your own brand name and ASINs](https://autron.ai/help/why-autron-targets-your-brand-name).

## Seeing What It Did

The engine's work doesn't appear in your Action log, which lists changes made through the agent. It shows on **Goals**, in the engine report on [Today](https://autron.ai/help/today), and in answers from the agent: ask "what has the engine changed on my garlic press this week?" and it reads the engine's own record of what it sent to Amazon.

## Can I Manually Tweak Things?

Budgets, structure and bidding are managed by the engine, and a bid changed by hand in Amazon Ads is moved back toward your target on its next pass. Make the change through the agent instead and Autron stands back from it; see [Exceptions](https://autron.ai/help/exceptions).

> **Autron’s goal is simple: automate, optimize, and scale your Amazon ads—so you never miss a sale.**

## Why is Autron advertising ASINs I did not pick?

If you see campaigns for ASINs you never switched on, that is expected: they are part of the engine's brand-focused structure, not a mistake. The engine includes other ASINs from your catalogue to cross-sell related products within the same brand or family, to protect those listings from competitors' ads, and to keep your brand's shelf visible.

These campaigns stay inside your brand — they do not spend on broad keywords or unrelated audiences — and carry very little spend. We recommend leaving them on. If a particular product should not be included, ask the agent to pause that campaign. A pause made through the agent stays until you hand it back. Or email [hello@autron.ai](mailto:hello@autron.ai) to have the setup reviewed.
