# Connecting Slack to Autron (Settings → Integrations)

Connect your Slack workspace so routines can post their reports to a channel and your agent answers when you mention it or send it a direct message. How to connect, link your Slack account, reconnect and disconnect.

**TL;DR:** In Settings › Integrations, click the Slack row (it reads Not connected) and approve Autron in Slack. Routines can then post their reports to any channel you pick, and your agent answers when you mention it or send it a direct message. It recognises you by your Slack email, or by linking your Slack account once. Disconnect from the same row.

**Slack** works two ways with Autron. Routines can post their reports to a Slack channel, and your agent answers in Slack when you mention it in a channel or send it a direct message — the same agent you use in the app.

> **Note**
>
> Connecting Slack is available on every plan and is set up once for your company. Posting routine reports needs a plan that includes [routines](https://autron.ai/help/routines). You need permission to add an app to your Slack workspace; some workspaces need a Slack admin to approve it.

## Connect your Slack workspace

1. In the Autron app, open [Settings › Integrations](https://agent.autron.ai/settings/integrations).
2. Click the **Slack** row. It reads **Not connected**, and the whole row is the link.
3. Slack asks you to review the permissions and pick your workspace. Allow access, and you're returned to Autron.

The row now reads **Connected**, with your Slack workspace's name next to it.

## Talk to your agent in Slack

Mention the Autron bot in a channel it is in, or send it a direct message, and it answers in the thread. It reads only the messages addressed to it: a mention, a direct message, or a reply in a thread it is part of. It does not read channels it hasn't been invited to, search your workspace, or look at conversations it wasn't included in.

Your agent needs to know which Autron user you are. If your Slack email matches your Autron login, it recognises you straight away. If not, it replies privately with **Link my Autron account**. Click it within 30 minutes, sign in if asked, and click **Link account**. From then on it recognises you. If you don't have an Autron account yet, ask an admin on your account to invite you — see [Invite your team](https://autron.ai/help/invite-your-team).

Anything that would change your account still needs your approval first. Every answer in Slack uses credits; the free quick lookups are only in the app's chat.

To see or remove your link later, click the connected **Slack** row in Settings › Integrations and choose **Manage your linked Slack account**. Each linked account there has an **Unlink** button.

## Send a routine's reports to Slack

1. Open the routine (or create one) and find **Channels**.
2. Click **Add Channel** › **Slack channel**. Before Slack is connected, this reads **Slack — connect first**.
3. Click **Pick channel** and choose a channel, or paste a channel ID. You can add more than one.
4. Save the routine.

Each delivered run posts a card to the channel with the run's status, a short summary, and **View transcript** and **Open routine** buttons. A routine set to **Only when it matters** posts only when a run flags something new.

To stop a routine posting to Slack, remove its Slack channel and save, or pause the routine. Disconnecting Slack (below) stops every routine's Slack posts at once.

> **Note**
>
> **Private channels.** Autron can post to any public channel without being invited. For a private channel, type `/invite @Autron` in that channel first, then click **Refresh channels** in the picker.

## Reconnect or disconnect

Click the connected **Slack** row in Settings › Integrations:

- **Reconnect** approves Autron in Slack again without disconnecting. Use it if Slack posts stop arriving.
- **Disconnect** removes Autron's access straight away. Routines that delivered to Slack skip it from then on; their other channels carry on. Slack account links for that workspace are removed too. Connect again any time.

## Troubleshooting

| **Symptom** | **What to do** |
| --- | --- |
| A routine stopped posting to Slack | Click the Slack row and choose **Reconnect**. If the row reads **Not connected**, click it to connect again. |
| A private channel isn't in the picker | Invite the bot to that channel with `/invite @Autron`, then click **Refresh channels**. |
| The channel list is empty | Click **Refresh channels**. If it stays empty, reconnect Slack. |
| The bot says it couldn't match your Slack account | Use its **Link my Autron account** link — see above. |
